Welcome! Clifton Art is my private teaching studio located in Clifton, Virginia. I'm excited and honored to share my passion for all-things artistic with the Clifton Community, where I've lived and raised my family for nearly 20 years!
I am a self-taught painter, sculptor, and photographer, and I truly enjoy sharing my art with adults and children of all ages and skill levels! My personal philosophy is that life IS art and that as individuals we each have the gifts and power to "paint our lives." It has been a pleasure watching my students develop their artistic skills and technique as they learn to view the world through their own artistic lens.
My goal as a teacher is to assist each student throughout their unique artistic journey. Students learn to relax, focus, shed self-defeating negative thought patterns, develop self-confidence, and understand the importance of perspective (from both artistic and critical thinking standpoints). Students learn that the creative process involves the artist's ability to "be present" with their work, silencing their minds to all of the noise of the busy world. They learn that the artistic process IS the art. Many of the principals I teach in my studio can be applied to life and learning.
I've worked with adults and children of all ages, including learning-disabled children, adults with chronic illness, and public and home-schooled children. Every student has found numerous benefit from their focus on the arts.
Clifton Art Studio has no store front. All lessons and events are private. Most classes/events are very small and are taught here in the studio. Larger classes/events are held in private off-site locations. I offer private & group lessons (painting, beginning sculpture, and photography), paint-nights, birthday parties, corporate art events and studio special events/workshops. In addition, throughout the summer, I offer summer "Art Camp". Clifton Art Studio also hosts student shows throughout the year and participates in community art and fund-raising events.
